Technique of the Month - November 2005

Shield and Sword
(left straight punch)

  1. Step to 1:30 into a right high wide kneel stance as you do a right inward parry, a left outward extended block open handed (transition); settle into a right neutral bow with a right inward handsword to the side of the opponent's neck, the left hand covers high.
  2. Push-drag shuffle forward into a right close kneel stance with a left inward elbow to the opponent's ribs as the right hand checks the opponent's arm.
  3. Step to 4:30 with the left foot into a twist stance as the right hand sets line of sight in a hammering position while the left hand does a waiters hand check on the opponent's arm (transition). Unwind counter-clockwise with a right raking backknuckle to the opponent's kidney, continuing the circular motion with a right roundhouse kick to the opponent's right kidney.
  4. Cover out.
