Technique of the Month - June 2005

Spiraling Twig
(rear bear hug - arms free)

  1. Step to 3:00 with your right foot as you deliver a secondary knuckle strike to the back of the opponent's hand and a double flapping elbow to the opponent's forearms to break their hold.
  2. Grab the opponent's wrist with the second lock from the lock flow and step to 1:30 into a left close kneel stance, keeping the arm pinned to the body.
  3. Rotate clockwise and step through reverse to 1:30 with your right foot, completing the lock.
  4. Deliver a right step thru front kick to the opponent's chest and land forward with a right stiff arm lifting back knuckle to the side of the opponent's face, closing your center line and checking on the opponent's right arm with your left.
  5. Cover out.
