Technique of
the Month - July/August 2004
Buckling
Branch
(left
front kick defense)
From a natural stance:
- Step to 4:30 with your right foot while delivering a right inside
downward / left downward outward block against the kick.
- Deliver a right step thru scoop kick to the groin and land forward
in a right front twist stance.
- Deliver a left knife-edge kick to the back of the opponent's right
knee and cover out.
Questions
- What fundamental rule are you breaking when starting your defense
with the right front scoop kick to the groin? What rule are you following
with that kick?
- What can be done to ensure that the rule can be broken?
- The front kick/twist stance/side kick combination is done in an
earlier Yellow Belt technique. Which one?
