Reversing Mace
(
left straight punch defense)

From a right neutral bow:

  1. Step to 4:30 with your left and then do a push-drag shuffle forward with a right outward back knuckle to the opponent's ribs, as the left hand circles counter-clockwise to check.
  2. Deliver a right looping downward roundhouse kick to the back of the opponent's knee. Continue the motion into a single cover out.

Beginner Student Questions

  1. What is the reason for the starting position?
  2. What does the looping downward roundhouse kick accomplish?

Advanced Student Questions

  1. Name a related technique that "builds" off the entry.
  2. Name a related technique that uses a similar entry on the "inside" of the body.
  3. Does the extension complete a category, or answer a "what-if" or both? If it's a category completion, what category? If it's a "what-if", what went wrong?
