Technique of the Month - December 2003

Lone Kimono
(left hand lapel grab)

  1. From a natural stance, step back into a right natural bow with a right "aggressive" upward block as your left had pins his hand to your chest.
  2. Circle the right arm counter-clockwise to 1:30 (line of sight), drop to a wide kneel stance with a right inward downward diagonal smother block to clear the arm.
  3. Deliver a right whipping hand sword to the throat.
 

Beginner Student Questions

  1. This technique is based on a lapel grab that pushes. Would this technique work against a pull?
  2. Name the Japanese word for a shirt, or robe.
 

Advanced Student Questions

  1. The motion that your right arm does in this technique is very similar to another technique that we learn against a punch. Which one?
  2. In the technique extension, what would a determining factor be that made you stay on the inside of the arm?
