Last Month
We promoted 7
students to 1st degree Black Belt on November 13th. This
culminated 3 ½ months of hard work that started back in August. As is tradition
in our school, we held a special promotion night for this event, and all of the
former candidates learned what it means to be a Black Belt, and demonstrated for
their families and friends some of their best stuff. As is also tradition, our
current Black Belts were present to welcome this new group in, and they welcomed
them in with some spontaneous attacks for the new Black Belts to defend, and the
new Black Belts put on quite a show. We finished the ceremony with the
traditional symbolic passing down of knowledge from the top Instructor down to
the newest Black belt members. This line now almost goes around the entire room.
Quite an impressive sight. I’ve always been told that a school is judged not by
the number of students it has, but by the quality of it’s higher ranks. I
believe in my heart that quality of our MVKS Black Belts is at a very high
level, and I am quite proud of my legacy. After the ceremony, it was party time!
Friends and families reminisced about their journeys to get to this night, and
everyone enjoyed some pizza and cake. I’d like to express my appreciation to all
the families, friends and Black Belt coaches who helped this new group achieve
their goal. Visit our website to see pictures from this event.
We held a womens self defense
clinic and a few MVKS moms and sisters , as well as a member, came down to learn
this very informative course. We went over some strategies and tactics necessary
to succeed in a self defense situation. We also covered the ABC’s of self
defense, something I think everyone should know by heart. We hold this course a
couple times a year, but if you’d like us to bring it to your work, just ask for
a brochure, and I’d be happy to bring this course to your workplace, at no cost
This Month...
The biannual Black Belt exam
is scheduled for Saturday, December 13th @12:30. All Black Belts who
have met their point requirements are expected to attend. All Black Belts who do
not qualify will have their points roll over towards their next step exam in
June. Good Luck, Everyone!
We are having our 2nd
annual MVKS Christmas party and ornament swap Friday, December 19th.
This will be a pot luck dinner. I have heard that a special guest in a red suit
will be there for pictures! This is a great time to mix and mingle with the MVKS
family, outside of a normal class setting. Yes, we all really do get along even
when we’ re not kicking and punching each other. If you signed up for the
ornament swap, please see Mr. P or Mr. C. to pick your name.
We are also having our
annual sock drive for the homeless. Look for the giant stocking in the lobby and
thank you for your donation of adult male socks. Warm, happy feet bring warm
happy thoughts!

A new year begins, and with it will come some

ANYWAY
a poem by Mother Theresa
People are unreasonable, illogical, and
self - centered
Love them anyway
If you do good, people may accuse you of
selfish motives
Do good anyway
If you are successful, you may win false
friends and true enemies
Succeed anyway
The good you do may be forgotten tomorrow
Do good anyway
Honesty and openness make you vulnerable
Be honest and open anyway
What you spend years building may be
destroyed overnight
Build anyway
People who really want help may attack
you if you help them
Help them anyway
Give the world the best you have and you
may get hurt
Give the world your best any way
Merry Christmas Everyone!!
