LAST MONTH...

 5 New Black Belt Candidates!

Congratulations to Teresa Harz, Tyler Harz, Trevor Harz, Tanner Harz, and Tom King. They passed their Black Belt Pre Test on  August 18th and their first of 3 Black belt exams September 8th. This is the largest family I’ve ever tested to Black Belt all at once, and with Tom King on their team, it’s also one of the strongest groups we’ve seen . Join me in congratulating them on passing the first of three tests, and wish them well as they work towards their next test in October.

As a result, during  the next cycle beginning Sept 17th, all members of MVKS will receive $50. in cash for every new member they bring into the school. New Tigers will receive a $25. Cash award. We will have a buddy week event to support this drive from Oct 1st thru Oct 6th. Halloween Party!

The now infamous MVKS Halloween Party is scheduled for Saturday, October 27th. This event is one of the most popular we hold at the Studio each year. Students come to the studio in their best appropriate costumes and participate in games such as: pin the stem on the pumpkin, eat the doughnut from the string with no hands, bob for apples, a marble race with your nose, hangman, charades, magic tricks and a costume parade. Winners of the games receive tickets to turn in for prizes, and prizes are awarded for best, most original, scariest, and funniest costume. I wonder what the MVKS Staff will dress up as this year?

Neckf Kenpo Camp! - October 19th and 20th. More info to follow.

Thought For The Month…

The Butterfly Story

A man found a cocoon for a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared,  he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared stuck.

The man decided to help the butterfly and with a pair of scissors he cut open the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shriveled wings. The man watched the butterfly expecting it to take on its natural proportions. But nothing changed.

The butterfly stayed the same. It was never able to fly. In his kindness and haste the man did not  realise that the butterfly’s struggle to get through the small opening of the cocoon is nature’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its’ wings so that it would be ready for flight.

Like the sapling which grows strong from being buffeted by the wind, in life we all need to struggle sometimes to make us strong.

When we coach and teach others it is helpful to recognize when people need to do things for themselves.
