THIS MONTH ...

Ornament Swap & Christmas Party!

This year we are having an Ornament Swap for Christmas. During the week of December 3rd thru the 8th, Students will draw a name out of a hat with another students name on it. Then, go out and buy a Christmas ornament for that person, and we’ll all open them at our Christmas party scheduled for Friday, December 21st.  This will be our Studio’s first Christmas party, and I’m hoping it will turn into a nice tradition.

Short cycle this month:

This months training cycle will be 4 weeks. This means we will be testing and promoting during our normal review week, week 4. We’ll adjust the classes during week three to review the cycle’s material. If your busy holiday schedule doesn’t fit ours, please see me so that we can make arrangements to test you privately.

School Closed for Christmas Vacation

Our school will be closed for Christmas vacation, from December 22nd until January 1st. Thank you everyone for a great year of training. I wish you all the very best of Holidays, and I hope you all enjoy this special time with your families and friends. We’ll be back on the mat January 2nd.

Black Belt Step Exam:

Our bi - annual Black Belt testing is scheduled for Saturday, December 15th at 12:30. All Black belts that meet the minimum point requirements are expected to attend. Please wear your clean, fully patched uniform. No t-shirts, please. Good luck!!

 Stormy weather and closing

Now that it’s Winter I need to remind everyone that the school will close during stormy weather. I will usually decide if the roads are safe by about 1 hour before the first scheduled class that evening,  and then I will change the schools’ answering machine remotely. So, if you’re not sure if we are having class, please wait to call until about 45 minutes before the first class starts   ( usually around 5:15 ). If the machine doesn’t say we’re closed, we are open. Many times in the past I have gotten calls from parents asking me to call them to let them know if we are open. This results in about 20 - 30 calls I would have to make and I’m sorry but I just don’t have the time to do that. I will also notify the radio station WZID 95.7, and they make their announcements for closings a couple of times an hour. Hopefully we’ll have another mild winter!!

Also This Month:

Sock Drive, care package drive for the region’s needy and homeless:

Please donate a personal care item for  the region’s needy and homeless. We’ll fill the big stocking in the lobby until December 21st and I’ll bring it to the Nashua Soup Kitchen.

With your donation, we can put together care packages full of personal care items, . These packages  include: travel size tooth brushes, deodorant, comb, clean pair of socks, etc., These items are things that many homeless people need on a daily basis yet often do without. And providing those things is a blessing to them.  In the spirit of the season, thank you in advance for your support. Remember: 25% of all homeless people are veterans.

Next Month: Mr Wedlake is coming to teach at our annual NECKF  Teachers Camp!

Kenpo Views

ANYWAY

a poem by Mother Theresa

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self - centered

Love them anyway

If you do good, people may accuse you of selfish motives

Do good anyway

If you are successful, you may win false friends and true enemies

Succeed anyway

The good you do may be forgotten tomorrow

Do good anyway

Honesty and openness make you vulnerable

Be honest and open anyway

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight

Build anyway

People who really want help may attack you if you help them

Help them anyway

Give the world the best you have and you may get hurt

Give the world your best any way

Merry  Christmas Everyone!!
