2nd Annual NECKF Teachers Camp with Lee Wedlake Well Attended, Well Received

Our school closed last month on Jan. 27th so that our teachers could attend the annual NECKF Teachers Camp in Fitchburg, Ma. As has become tradition, The NECKF Studio Directors arranged to have Mr. Wedlake come up from Florida to lead a day of seminars for our teaching staffs. This was our way of thanking them for all of the generous time and devotion they show for their prospective Studios. Over 100 teachers were present! Topics of the day were how to train the system’s basics, forms, self-defense techniques, spontaneous, and mental conditioning. It was a fantastic day, complete with a pot luck dinner afterward where people got to mingle and share war stories and what-not, while a video of Ed Parker was projected onto the wall. There are some seminar guidelines available to download below the picture on the homepage of neckf.com. Check them out, there’s some valuable information there.

Rank Specific Monthly Specials: Level One Stick Seminar

We held the first of what will become rank specific specials of the month on Jan 13th. Last month's special was for the Red, Brown and Black belts of our school and it was well attended. 14 of you came down and learned the level one stick certification for a couple of hours. Some of you made it look pretty easy. This same group of ranks can look forward to their next seminar on the Kenpo Staff set in April.

Beginner Kids Buddy Week and Movie Day

This months rank specific special will be for the beginner kids (white, yellow, and orange belts) in our school. Snacks and drinks will be provided, please sign up so that we can plan plenty of treats for that day. We will be taking a vote on the movie in class on the 22nd.

Inclement Weather Notice

Now that winter weather has arrived, our school may close from time to time due to hazardous driving conditions. You can find out if we are closed by listening to 95.7 WZID in the afternoon, or by calling the Studio after 5:00pm. Unless it is a terrible storm, I will always wait until 5:00 to see if the roads are in good shape and to watch the weather reports on the news. If the answering machine doesn’t say we’re closed, we are open. In the past, I have gotten messages from people asking me to call them to let them know if we’re open, and it’s just not possible for me to contact everybody. If you miss a class due to a closing, we will still award you a class point for that night, and we will make up the material that you missed in a future class.
