2006 - A Look Back

2006 was an outstanding year for MVKS. Join me as I walk down memory lane…

- Aside from the regular classes that we all love, we were treated to seminars by Mr. Wedlake, Mr. White, Mr. Gaudette, Mr. Brassard, Dian Tanaka, Zach Whitson, Al McLuckie, and Chris Veziris - We continued to hold our monthly special events. We had a Movie Day, and a Parents' Night Out, outside classes, family and buddy weeks, a Halloween party and a women’s self-defense course. We also marched in the Gala Parade, and held our 2nd summer camp.

- MVKS members were charitable, locally and globally. We did a break-a-thon fundraiser for the McCollum Field, donated 6 month memberships to the Mont Vernon PTO and the Milford Lion’s club. We provided two free women’s self defense clinics, held a sock drive for the Nashua Soup Kitchen and raised money for Heifer international.

- MVKS students showed personal growth as well, as 3 people earned their Black belts in June, and 5 more in December. Our currents Black Belts advanced, too, with four new 2nd degrees and three new 3rd degree ranks awarded this past year. Some "guy" named Peacock earned his 5th degree, too. We also had five new volunteers join our teaching staff.

All in all, it was certainly a year to be proud of. Now I don’t want to rest on our laurels, so join me as I look forward to 2007.…

2007 - A Look Ahead

Welcome to a new year at MVKS! We will continue to teach our regular classes with the same enthusiasm and excitement that you are used to, and we will always be fine tuning them so that each class provides the best opportunity for everyone’s growth. Also look forward to more great seminars from the best in their fields.

- Our monthly events will be more rank specific, providing everyone an opportunity to enhance their experience at MVKS. We’ll still have our outside classes, as well as our family and buddy weeks. We’ll be at the Spring Gala again, hold a community self-defense course, and maybe have 2 summer camps!

- We’ll continue to be charitable, both locally and globally. We’ll do our annual break-a-thon at the Gala again, offer self defense clinics, and donate to local and international charities.

- Our Black Belt class will grow some more, too, as we have quite a number of students who will be eligible for Black Belt this year. We will be adding a bi-monthly advanced Black Belt class.

Have you ever heard the expression,
“Our futures so bright, we've gotta wear shades!”

Inclement Weather Notice

Now that winter weather has arrived, our school may close from time to time due to hazardous driving conditions. You can find out if we are closed by listening to 95.7 WZID in the afternoon, or by calling the Studio after 5:00pm. Unless it is a terrible storm, I will always wait until 5:00 to see if the roads are in good shape and to watch the weather reports on the news. If the answering machine doesn’t say we’re closed, we are open. In the past, I have gotten messages from people asking me to call them to let them know if we’re open, and it’s just not possible for me to contact everybody. If you miss a class due to a closing, we will still award you a class point for that night, and we will make up the material that you missed in a future class.
