- past and upcoming events |
Congratulations to Emma Downing, Zach Hagan, Mike Hayden, Brendan Poor, and Frederick van Tassell. They are MVKS’ new Black Belt Candidates!! They passed their pre-test and 1st exam and are working together for their next exam on September 30th. Please encourage them and wish them well on their next test. They have a tough road ahead of them but if they team up and work hard, these fine young students will be earning their Black belts in a couple of months!!.
Mother nature was kind enough to let us have a couple of beautiful
Saturdays to train outside on the lawn. This is one of my favorite things that
we do at MVKS, and obviously quite a few students share my feelings as we had a
great turnout for both events. Hopefully, we can squeeze in another outside
class before it’s too cold. The winning times from the obstacle course are:
Tigers: Caleb Gorton 4:03,
Beg Kids: Katie Rubright 3:20,
Int. Kids: Jaimie Cates 2:48,
Prep classes: Elijah Gorton and Mackenzie Peacock 2:37,
Black Belt: Zach Peacock 2:24.
Please see me for your prizes. Great job everyone!!
How would you like an extra $250 for Christmas shopping? How about $100 or $50? It all starts on September 18th!! Get your friends to join the region's best Karate Studio and you could win BIG!!! Please see the flyer (in the Student Center) for details on this exciting new contest!
We will be offering another free self-defense course for all MVKS Moms, female members, and their friends on Wednesday, Sept. 20th, from 7:00 to 9:00. This will be a repeat of the course we held in July, so if you missed it, or would like to do it again, please sign up. Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board.
Please join us this October 6th and 7th in Fitchburg Ma. for our annual Kenpo Camp. This Camp will be historic in that we will witness Mr. Lee Wedlake, ( Mr. White’s teacher), assume the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt!! This, I am told, is going to bring in many famous martial artists from around the world. Also instructing will be Mr. Zach Whitson, 7th Black, Mr. White ( my teacher ), 7th Black, and Mrs. Dian Tanaka-Whitson, 6th Black. I highly recommend this camp for any serious student red belt and above. Reserve your space today!! See me for more info or visit neckf.com to download your registration form.

Winners And Losers
(an email I received from Mr. White)
-A winner says “ Let’s find out.”. A loser says “ Nobody knows. “
- When a winner makes a mistake they say ‘ I was wrong. “ When a loser makes a mistake, they say “ It wasn’t my fault.”
- A winner goes through a problem, a loser goes around it, and never gets past it.
- A winner makes commitments, a loser makes promises.
- A winner says, “ I’m not as good as I ought to be.” A loser says, “ I’m not as bad as a lot of other people are”
- A winner tries to learn from those who are superior to them. A loser tries to tear down those who are superior to them.
- A winner says, “ There ought to be a better way to do this.” A loser says, “ That’s the way it’s always been done.”
