Teacher Appreciation Night - A Night of Reflection and Thanks

On Friday, June 23rd, over 50 MVKS members and their families came to MVKS to celebrate 15 years of Karate in Mont Vernon and to say thanks to the incredible teaching staff at MVKS. It was a great night to reflect upon the history of our Karate school. I made a collage of all of the current staff members with pictures of them from years gone by. I think it provided our newer students a reminder that their teachers were once beginners too, and that some of us looked a lot younger! As always, there was more than enough good food for all to enjoy. I personally cannot thank our staff enough for their endless generosity of their time they volunteer. Without their efforts, MVKS wouldn’t be half the school that it is.

This Month - Another 4-Week Cycle

This current cycle will also be a 4-week cycle, with week three providing review of previous material and the last requirements for striping. Once again we will be awarding ranks and stripes at the end of classes during week 4, and our second summer break closing the school down from August 5th through the 12th. Classes will resume Aug 14th. Please see me if your vacations don’t coincide with ours and we’ll do what we can to keep you on track.

Outside Classes!

Weather permitting, we will have classes out on the side lawn on the 15th, 17th and 18th . You may wear street clothes if you’re worried about grass stains on your uniform. The 15th will be an open workout from 10 - 12 for all members. Bring your bug spray, and your sparring equipment on the 17th and 18th if you’re a Purple belt or higher. Black belts and Beg adults who want to spar may take the BB Prep class, as it will be too dark at 8:00 for your classes.
