Women's Self-Defense Course Well Attended

18 people attended our free women's self defense course on June 8th! We opened the class with some disturbing statistics on violent crime and congratulated everyone who attended for being proactive about it. Our practice started with balancing in a horse stance while trying some blocks, then practiced them going back into a stance. Next we started hitting the pads with some basic strikes, learning about weapon formation and the importance of knowing how to hit with power. Next we worked through self defense situations against some typical attacks that use a common theme in their defense. Lastly we discussed strategies necessary for success, and we covered a checklist everyone should go over when faced with a dangerous situation. Overall, the class went well and if you'd like to do the course again, or if you missed it the first time, please join us in New Boston on Monday July 18th!

Black Belts Pass Step Exam - June 4th

Congratulations to all the Black Belts who participated in the latest step exam June 4th. Black Belts in the NECKF are required to take a "step" exam every 6 months to monitor progress and award rank when qualified. Everyone passed the exam with the lowest grade being an 86%! A special congratulations to Sam Dawson, Dan Quimby, and Eric van Tassell, who completed their 1 year probationary period and are now certified by the NECKF as 1st degree Black Belts!! Great job, everyone!

Kenpo Views

 - in my opinion...

A contest for everyone!

In search of ... the perfect class

Have you ever thought to yourself what the perfect karate class would be like? Would it be one that did what you are the most capable of? Would it be one that introduced to you a new way of thinking and/ or moving? Would it be one that had a combination of these things, or one where you finally succeeded at that particular technique or form that you've been working on for so long? Whatever it is, WE WANT TO KNOW!! Submit your ideas for the perfect class to me by August 1st and winners from the kids classes will receive a prize from our prize box, and winners from all classes will be published next month, along with my own opinions as to what the perfect class would be. I am very interested in your responses, and look forward to reading your thoughts!

Do You Have A Summer Scheduling Conflict

Our school is closing for two weeks this summer, as we always do. The first week off is from July 2nd until July 10th. The second week we have off is from August 6th until August 14th. If you are also going on vacation and the time you'll be away is different from the weeks we are closed, please let me know. I will be happy to sit down and go over some training options with you to keep you on track. Whether it would be scheduling 1, 2 or 3 free 15 minute privates or paid 1/2 hr or 1 hour time slots, I will do whatever it takes to keep you up to date with the material you need to stay on track as you work for your next rank. Each 15 minute free private is worth 1/2 point, each1/2 hr private is worth 1& 1/2 points, and each 1hr private is worth 3 points. Don't let vacation get in the way of your progress!
