- in my opinion... |
During the week of Jan 24th - 29th, MVKS students sat down with their teachers, also known as goal coaches, and discussed with them the things they would like to accomplish in 2005. Many good ideas came from this, such as wanting to brush up on older forms and techniques. Some people decided it was time to start a notebook, and some students made a higher level of fitness and flexibility their goal. As a Karate teacher, I have my own personal goals for my students to achieve as they progress from rank to rank. What a bonus it is to accomplish your own personal goals along the way. That's a win - win situation anyway you look at it.
Writing down your goals takes courage, but it's also a very important 1st step because now you've started to develop a plan. Putting them on a bulletin board takes real courage, because now you're sharing with other people, risking failure in front of your peers, but, you're also helping your chances for success, because now a fellow student may see you share a common goal, and now a team effort can be made. There is strength in unity, and THAT is a goal of mine, to create an environment where people work together for success!
Now comes the challenge, a call to action to begin accomplishing these goals. This is where the real learning begins, as wisdom comes only through experience. Courage is developed by trying and failing, and then trying again. And ultimately confidence grows with each small success. And when you have confidence, - LOOK OUT!- the world is yours for the taking. I look forward to seeing you all succeed in your efforts this year. Good Luck!! -JP
It's going to be an A.M. kind of year. Feel free to ask me what that means.

Thought For The MonthDedicated to.........
Our ability to move forward is only hastened when we stop to look back. Looking back more than looking forward is surely an invitation to crash in the present.
Stormy weather is here, so call the Studio 1 hour before class to see if we're open during a storm. If the answering machine doesn't say we're closed, we're open!! Announcements will be made on 95.7 WZID as well. Day class people- please call before every class as sometimes I may need to be home with a sick child.
Raju Gandhi collected his 5th green star and was the 1st student to choose a prize from the MVKS prize box!! How did he get the green stars?? Raju went into the student center on the MVKS website and found the phrase of the month. He then e-mailed it to me and was awarded his star. Good for you, Raju!!!
One of my goals this year is to develop a parents center on our website, with FAQs and advice to help your child succeed in Karate. Please write down some questions you may have and I can get started on this. Thank-you - JP
